What is an MCS-150 Update?

The MCS-150, also known as the Motor Carrier Identification Report, is a mandatory form required by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) to maintain and update a company’s USDOT number record. It provides the FMCSA with essential details about a motor carrier’s operations, fleet size, and safety data. Key Functions

  • Biennial Updates: All active motor carriers must file an updated MCS-150 every 24 months. This is the most common use of the form.
  • Operational Changes: The form must be submitted whenever significant changes occur, such as a change in business address, legal name, number of vehicles, or types of cargo hauled.
  • Safety Scores: The data provided (like annual mileage and vehicle counts) is used by the FMCSA to calculate safety scores through the Compliance, Safety, Accountability (CSA) program.

Do you know the Consequences of Non-Compliance

Failure to comply with MCS-150 regulations can lead to:

  • Fines and penalties for both employers and drivers
  •  Authority cancelation
  • Legal liabilities for motor carriers
  • Business restrictions
